Rear Admiral (retired) John Palmer applies a wealth of professional experience to his consulting projects. A native of Lexington, Kentucky, he is a graduate of The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He is also a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School holding a Master of Science degree in Systems Management (Acquisition & Contract Management) and the Columbia University Graduate School of Business Senior Executive Program.
John Palmer is owner of JT Palmer Enterprises, LLC—a South Carolina corporation. In this capacity he serves as an corporate advisory board member, independent consultant (advising clients and associates on logistics and small business matters), and author of From Bluegrass to Blue Water - Lessons in Farm Philosophy and Navy Leadership (Fidelis Publishing-Nashville). In conjunction with his authorship, Mr. Palmer serves as a public speaker to an array of civic groups throughout the southeast and commentator for various media including Fox News as a subject matter expert. From 2020-2023, John Palmer served as the inaugural Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sheltron, Inc. located in Pontiac, Michigan. Sheltron consists of two divisions: EV Division designs and manufactures the rapidly deployable, mobile, customizable, multi-charger—Electrical Vehicle Charging Stations and UV Division designs and manufactures ultraviolet light devices used for disinfection of rooms and objects of harmful pathogens as well as purification of air in common spaces. During his tenure Sheltron (and associated divisions) expanded product lines into air purification and EV infrastructure and experienced a seven-fold increase in units under contract/ordred in 2022.
The Palmers served over 32 years as a Navy family with John Palmer retiring at the rank of rear admiral. His Navy career included nearly nine years at sea while assigned to four ships. Noteworthy afloat operations included Operations Desert Shield/Storm, Eastern Exit, Sharp Guard, Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom, and Joint Task Force Katrina. In addition, he was entrusted with command during three tours leading four units spanning six years. While in command, he led subordinate units and detachments in over two dozen overseas locations. His final tour was in command of DLA Land & Maritime responsible for approximately $6 billion in annual procurements in support of U.S. Army & Marine Corps tracked & wheeled vehicles as well as Navy surface and subsurface weapon systems.
During his naval career, Admiral Palmer earned several warfare and professional qualifications and is entitled to wear various personal, unit, and service awards including the Defense Superior Service Medal and Combat Action Ribbon. He is a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps, qualified through the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Level III in acquisition and contract management, and a Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) as recognized by the National Contract Management Association.
John Palmer also participates in managing two family farms in Kentucky.
